The whole world was worried about the kitten from the famous photo

Sometimes the authors become prominent by their sorrowful photographs. They are also impressing. And this shot, taken by a photographer named Graham Lavery, evokes only sympathy for the unfortunate hero.

The central character in Lavery’s picture is an ordinary kitten, which is forced to live on the street. It is clear that his fate is difficult. He is very thin and weak. Wanting to find at least a little support and warmth, he clings to the boot of a passerby. The photo was done in Vietnamese city of Hoi An, which suffered from severe flooding.

He didn’t do anything to help the unfortunate animal, which barely survived in these hard conditions, and continued to do his job after capturing it. The man posted a frame with a poor kitten on the Flickr photo stock, where he quickly gained popularity. Graham’s indifference caused a great resonance. The photographer began to receive hundreds of angry messages from animal rights activists, even organizations took up arms against him.

The man had to make excuses. He appealed to the cultural traditions of Vietnam. There, the attitude towards cats and dogs is not at all the same as in European countries. They are often eaten and are not perceived as pets in the usual sense of the word. Lavery also noticed that many people suffered then, some lost their homes and all their property, and some even lost family members. Of course, the fate of a purebred stray kitten was of least interest to citizens.

But Graham’s attempts to present himself in a better light only spawned more accusations against him. Nothing is known about the fate of this unfortunate kitten. But we want to believe that he was still able to meet a more empathetic person on his difficult path.
