When Russia invaded Ukraine, a lot of lives were flipped.

Plenty of people were separated from their pets.

Fortunately, there are kind people who are doing their best to reunite owner with their pets. Lately, one cat has made it back to his owner after being moved from Ukraine to the USA.

Larysa Frisby, was in Arkansas when the invsaion started off, so she avoided having to escape the conflict. Though, her cat Persik was in Odesa.

With the burst of animosities on February 24 in Ukraine, it was tough to believe how this could occur.

Larysa’s cousin was able to move Persik from Odesa to Warsaw, Poland. And from Warsaw, Kelly Donithan, director of animal disaster response for the Humane Society, was capable to transport the cat from Poland to the US.

Persik’s story is symbolic of Humane Society International has seen through the mess and harm of this war: volunteers getting together to support and help each other however they can, along with beloved animals.

“Larysa was about to give up, but every time somebody stepped in to help and bring this cat out of the war and eventually to his mom. I am thankful that I was able to help bring him home,» Kelly said.

After arriving in the US, Persik reunited with his owner at last.

She expressed special thanks to the people who got involved in rescuing her cat from the war.

It is a hurting and horrendous time, but all of these little acts of kind-heartedness are keeping and getting famiiles together when they need it most.
