One rainy morning, Eldad Hagar and Loretta Franconite of Hope for Paws in Los Angeles, California, got info about a homeless German Shepherd mix dog. The poor thing had been crying for days. The innnocent animal was cowering under a car when it was discovered. Kind people living in the area called the rescue organization.

The dog hid under the car in order to avoid approaching poeple. He was afraid of the rescuers. So she used the van as a shield to protect herself from the people.

When Loreta offered the dog a piece of burger, the dog quieted down for a while. Ultimately, she allowed Loretta to approach her. As soon as the rescuer tried to pet her, she started crying again. The kind woman did not want to scare the dog away.

They didn’t want the dog to become aggressive, so the rescuers had to proceed cautiously. The dog was clearly afraid of them. The dog didn’t realize that the rescuers had come to his rescue. After a few minutes, the dog moved across the street and just lay down between two buildings next to a car.

Eldad quickly set up a netting around it so the dog couldn’t escape. Soon the German Shepherd tried to get out. Loretta was already waiting for the dog at one of the exits. She took a little time to set up a long rope with a noose to secure the dog. The rescuers named her Rayne and carefully placed her in the dog crate. They then brought her to the shelter, where she was bathed and groomed.

2 weeks later, Rayne was taken to the happy family of Allison Dunbar. She was a well-known animal rescuer and volunteer. The Dunbars wanted to change their dog’s name to match her personality.

They decided to call her «Sassy Pants Dunbar.» Sassy loved her new home and immediately became friends with Allison’s pet dog, Ernie. When rescuers met her, she was a completely different dog. Her new mom told the rescuers that Sassy Pants liked to shake people’s hands and do many things with her hands. Allison thought she was part squirrel because she was always holding something in her hands. Eldad and Loretta were happy to find a dog showered with love and affection.
