This kind-hearted woman drives up the hills to take care of neglected dogs there
Thousands of dogs and cats are roofless in Turkey. majority of them were born on the street, but it is also usual to meet animals who have been abandoned. Unluckily, people are more likely to leave their pets in unpeopled places so that it is much more difficult to find them.
Meet Nuray, an amazing woman, who has devoted her life to rescuing stray dogs. She is one of the few exceptionally kind residents who is looking after the neglected dogs.
In Turkey, it is usual to find abandoned animals in the mountains. They are experiencing difficulty to find food and water.
Nuray drives up to the hills of Sapanca, Turkey. During the last ten years, she was looking after these animals. She does this practically every night after work.
Nuray also drives to local restaurants and hotels, takes any unnecessary food that she can feed to the stray animals. Sometimes, she notices that some of the dogs may be injured or sick and so she rushes them to the vets.
Now it is getting very expensive for Nuray to buy fuel and food as the Turkish lira is dropping in value.
She accepts gifts and donations from volunteers and hopes to create her own website, so it will be easier for people to help her with money.
Nuray says that those dogs are like her kids, with their own nature, names and stories.
