When it comes to cats, liger Hercules is amongst the biggest in the world. The cat lives in Jungle Island, Miami. Hercules weight is about half a ton. It is a mix of tiger and lion, to be exact. There are less than 30 of them in the world.
He was born in 2002 in the same park. Bhagawan Antle, a doctor, looked after him, so he is unbelievably calm now.Hercules appeared in the Guinness Book in 2006. At that time, he reached 3.6 meters long and weighed around 410kg. Really impressive! In spite of his size, Hercules was very flexible and could reach high speeds.
Yet Hercules is not the largest ever. Long ago, a liger weighed almost 800kg. It might be the largest cat ever since information like this was recorded.
