What is that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is that Superman? No, it’s a plane.

But not just any plane, but one with precious cargo and an incredibly kind man named David Tan.

This man from Wisconsin, USA was a military pilot for 40 years. And after retirement, he devoted his life to helping homeless animals.

Using the Italian Aermacchi SF-260 two-seat plane, he promptly transports pets rescued from the streets or from abusive owners to their new owners in other cities and states.

David started helping animals in 2012 and has since rehomed over 360 dogs, 23 cats, several goats, pigs and even a bat named Bruce (named after Bruce Wayne from the Batman comics).

The pilot works with the non-profit organization Pilots N Paws, which regularly provides him with four-legged passengers.

More often than not, David moves dogs and cats from one airport to another, simply handing them off to new pilots. But sometimes he gives the animals to new owners himself. And it is that moment that he likes the most in his work.

Many of the families to whom the man brings his new animals are so grateful for his help that they pay him.

Out of politeness, he does not refuse the money, but he never keeps it for himself. He gives it to charities for medical expenses related to animal rescues.
