The little girl makes her way through heavy snowfall to help her sick dog
Recently, veterinarian Ogun was called to a small village in Turkey to take care of a client’s cow. He doesn’t want to stay long.
But what started as a regular visit ended up being something Ogun won’t soon forget.
Having done the work for which he had come, Ogun was about to leave the village. However, before he could do so, something in the distance caught his attention.
There, a little girl was walking toward him along the thick snow path. And she was not alone.
On her back was a puppy.
Word got out that there was a veterinarian in the village, and this presented an opportunity that eight-year-old Cemre didn’t miss.
Cemre’s dog named Pamuk fell ill. Hopeless to ask for his help, she decided to carry Pamuk more than a mile from her home to where she heard Ogun should be.
“When I first saw them, I was very surprised and moved,” «She wrapped up her dog and brought it to me on her back.»
Ogun, of course, could not drive Cemre and Pamuk away. While the little girl was looking at her with concern, Ogyun performed an examination.
Luckily, the dog’s illness was not too serious. Ogun discovered that Pamuk had minor skin problems that made him uncomfortable but could be easily treated.
“When Cemre found out that everything was fine with her dog, she was very happy,” he said. “I applied external preparations against parasites to Pamuk. Now he is enjoying himself again, healthy and happy.”
Ogun returned to the village to check on Cemre and Pamuk, making sure they would never again have to defy the snow for any help he could provide. It was the least he could do, given the effort, she’d made to find him.
“I was very happy that an 8-year-old girl behaved in this way with such a loving heart,” he said.
On that day, Ogun did not charge Cemre for his services. Just seeing her love and devotion to Pamuk was the best price he could ask for.
“The fact that a person at such a young age exhibits such behavior gives hope to humanity,” he said. “With everything going on in the world, there is still hope. Cemre showed us that the only truth in the world is love.”
