The dog brought a strange puppy, and the owners sensed something was wrong and called the defenders of wildlife. And not in vain!
This story happened in Washington County, Virginia (USA). On February 5, a domestic dog brought a strange puppy to the owners. The owners did not know where he came from, immediately sensed something was wrong and contacted the US Fish and Wildlife Service (DGIF). And absolutely not in vain! After all, it was none other than a little bear cub!
The next day, February 6, a service specialist delivered the bear cub to the Virginia Wildlife Center. After examination by a veterinarian, it turned out that this was a boy, his weight was 540 grams, the baby was healthy and vigorous, but slightly dehydrated. He was assigned the number 20-0084 and sent to the incubator, assigning a feeding schedule.
Shortly before this incident, another bear cub appeared in the Center, a girl weighing 566 grams with the number 20-0064. She was discovered on January 22 by power line workers in Craig County. She was lying on top of a pile of brushwood and was completely frozen. People thought she was dead, but when they warmed the baby, she began to cry.
The babies were placed in one incubator
On February 10, the kids were separated
Baby girl #20-0064 was taken away to try to get her new mom. She was placed at the entrance to the den where the cubs were, and the mother bear weighing more than 100 kg took her and has been raising her as her own. On February 12, cub No. 20-0084 was also placed with a new mother, who had already had 3 cubs before. He was also welcomed with warmth and care.
