Stray dog was finally saved after passing a difficult and unbearable period
An animal lover Ayberk Ayar, who is concerned about the problem of stray animals, took a touching photo of a golden retriever with a dried bun in her mouth in Central Anatolia. The man also tried to search an information about the dog and found out that she had been wandering around there for at least 2 weeks and no one knew how she became homeless.
The poor retriever was very hungry, but all she could find was just a small piece of bun and she couldn’t even eat it, as she was afraid that other dogs would take it away, and carried the bun to a safe place.
Ayberk posted a heartbreaking photo of the dog on his Instagram account, which was noticed by Tracey Bank, director of Rescuers Without Borders, an organization that rescues stray dogs in Turkey. The picture touched the woman’s heart.
Rescuers of the organization went to the area where the retriever was, but unfortunately, the dog was no longer there. They began searching actions, which were long and really difficult. The team were informed that someone took the miserable animal for selling her to some illegal kennel where the retriever would be used for breeding until she got exhausted. And the work of the rescuers became harder and full of obstacles.
Finally, they reached to the place where the poor creature was. After being rescued from that harsh condition, the female volunteer could not let the dog out of her hands and held it as if cradled, and the dog pressed close to her. Woman named her Harper.
Harper herself seemed to understand what she was being told. She immediately relaxed and calmed down. She was very sweet. She immediately began to lick and caress the woman. This was very unusual for stray dogs.
First, Harper was brought to the Rescuers Without Borders Turkish shelter, and then she was transported to the United States from where a caring woman Tracy Bank and her husband wanted to foster her.
At first Harper was afraid of the humans and was confused being in her new surroundings but after some efforts she got used to her new family. She became calm and peaceful. She felt comfortable and warm.
Harper is now in a temporary foster home and is slowly adapting to her new life. She especially likes walking on the green lawn and riding on the grass. Little by little, she begins to come out of her «shell». When she is fully socialized, she will be ready to look for a forever owner.
