Shelter dog who wore a Christmas sweater for two months has finally found a «new» home
A dog, whose name was Bobby, was surrendered to Miami-Dade Animal Services, and soon the hearts of the volunteers and bonded with them were melted.
Sadly, this did not mean that Bobby was immediately adopted. In fact, after 2 months at Miami-Dade Animal Services, things didn’t go so well for him at all. That’s because he ended up on a list that no animal wants to be on: a code red list.
However, Bobby’s luck changed thanks to social media. A picture of him in a Christmas sweater appeared on the Internet. But the expression on Bobby’s face was in stark contrast to the holiday sweater — he looked depressed and heartbroken.
The volunteers who worked with him hoped that the photo would result in a miracle — Bobby’s life would be saved.
The caption to the photo was also heartbreaking. It urged viewers of the photo to do the right thing, because if they didn’t, Bobby would die.
To sweeten the deal, Miami-Dade Animal Services was willing to pay the cost of adopting Bobby. They just needed somebody to give him a new forever home…
And that somebody was found!
Instantly, there was a flood of support. A lot of people wanted to adopt him. One of those people was Robert Miller. When he saw Bobby’s sweet, sad face, he knew he had to step in.
Robert works for a local rescue group, so he knows firsthand what happens to puppies like Bobby if they can’t be placed with a new family.
But another shelter volunteer named Paola beat Robert to it! By the time he arrived at the shelter, Bobby was picked up by his new mom and taken to the vet clinic for a checkup. There he was treated for several minor problems.
Paola vowed to make Bobby’s life much better than it was. She knew that a position like Bobby’s came with a lot of good people — and bad ones, too. That’s why she wanted to get to Bobby as soon as possible.
