Retired police dog gets excited after reuniting with handler she hasn’t seen in years

K-9s are amazing dogs. Not only do they provide an invaluable service to police departments, but they also make a tremendous impression on their fellow officers, forming a bond that cannot be broken.
This is evidenced by one video that shows a police dog crying after being reunited with his former handler for the first time in years.

This touching video appeared on a Chinese social media site and was posted by the Sichuan Police Department. According to the Daily Star, Wangwang, an 8-year-old German Shepherd, worked for the department as a sniffer dog until his retirement in June 2019.

Although Wangwang earned a good retirement and was well taken care of, it unfortunately meant a separation from her former partner and handler.
She missed him dearly, so when the officer decided to pay her a surprise visit after a long separation, she rejoiced and ran straight to him.
Two old friends have a nice reunion. The officer strokes and strokes Wangwang, who seems to be crying for joy.
Even though they haven’t seen each other in a long time and have gone their separate ways, the love between this officer and the dog is not lost. «Wangwang’s hair turns white, but she’s well fed, she gets fat,» the original video reads.

While many K9s and other service dogs live with their owners after retirement, getting to spend their golden years with someone they already love and trust, Sichuan police say their officers don’t have time to care for retired dogs, so they are taken care of by family.
It’s sad that these two had to part ways after establishing such a strong bond at work, but seeing the look on Wangwang’s face, we’re sure it wasn’t the officer’s last visit to his old friend.
