Policeman spots baby squirrels in street and ends up making two little new friends
Not long ago, in Ithaca, New York State Trooper LaVonte’ Lee noticed a pair of baby squirrels in the center of a crowded street.
They definitely were in need of help, and Lee decided to save them.
After he got the little squirrels out of the noisy road, they didn’t want to leave Lee.
They just kept on being perched upon his arm. It seemed like they knew they had found the perfect person to help them.
Usually, the reason why baby squirrels are found on the ground, is that they’ve fallen out of their nests. In cases like this, the best thing to do is to put them back in the nest.
And that’s what Lee did.
In a neighboring tree, he placed what seemed to be the squirrels’ nest. Lee installed them there so their mother would notice them.
For his deed that day, Lee got a well-earned outpuoring of appreciation in the Net and from his co-workers.
“One of the basic values of the New York State Police is to defend animals and proprety,” a spokesman for the police said.
