Over a decade of friendship and love between a lion and the man who saved his life

There is a solid reason why lions is called ‘the king of forest.’ Their fantastic power let them be one of the most fearful predatory animals on our planet. Nevertheless, this fact didn’t stop Frikkie Von Solms to bring up a lion.

Now after a decade, the 69-year-old custodian and Zion have a strong bond. And their story is truly heartwarming!

Sad to say, Zion was born in captivity and because of that, he was ignored by his mother when he was born. Then the lion was saved by Frikkie Von Solms who use to take care of wild cats that lost they parents and left all alone in Africa. He brought up the little cub as if he was his baby. Moreover, he even him to sleep in his bed. Zion has made it through and now the little lion grew into a massive lion.

In spite of its ferocious looking, Zion is a tender giant. It’s been 11 years since they first met. And all these years, they’ve taught each other a lot.

“This kind of experience happens once in a lifetime” says Von Solms. “People don’t know that these animals have personalities, they even have a sense of humor. The lion is very soft. He hasn’t ever attacked anyone, and I trust him absolutely.”
