Man finds missing dogs at photoshoot for shelter pets
For a pet owner, there’s nothing more upsetting than when a pet goes missing and many think they’ll never see it again… But it’s the best feeling in the world when you are finally reunited with him.
It was especially happy for one man whose dramatic, heartbreaking reunion with his two dogs made it onto television.
In October 2019, Miami-Dade Animal Services teamed up with Ocean Drive magazine for a photo shoot. Models posed with homeless animals looking for homes to promote pet adoption.
Among the models were 2 Siberian Huskies. But as they were being photographed, a man ran up and interrupted the shoot.
His words shocked everyone: «That’s my dog, man! That’s my dog!»
The man, Sandy Hernandez, explained that these were his two pet dogs, Ragnar and Cloud, who had been missing for days.
After a long weekend of searching and putting up flyers, he finally got a call from the man who had found the huskies.
«I was putting up flyers yesterday, I was putting up flyers all over the neighborhood,» he told CBS Miami. «And the guy who found them told me he brought them here at 1:00 yesterday afternoon, so I ran over and saw them.»
He arrived just as the dogs were being photographed. He was so excited that he didn’t even park the car, he just ran to the dogs. The Huskies were happy to see him, too.
This heartwarming reunion was caught on camera. The camera crew and animal adoption workers were happy to see the man reunited with his lost dogs and comforted him.
It’s a very happy ending, but after such an ordeal, Sandy isn’t going to risk losing his pets again: he says he plans to have them microchipped first so they can identify him as the owner.
