Kindhearted truck drivers save thirsty baby elephant
A tiny baby elephant was given a second chance, thanks to kind-hearted truckers who rescued her just in time. The South African drivers were driving through Botswana when the convoy had to stop because of a technical problem with one of the trucks. But when the men got out of the truck, they were all astonished to find a baby elephant popping out of the bushes. They soon realized something was wrong with the poor creature and rushed to her aid!
When this group of truck drivers came across a tiny baby elephant in the middle of the road in the Botswana desert, they first thought it had approached them out of curiosity, but they soon discovered that the adorable creature was indeed lost. Worse, she was in a very poor condition, as she was showing signs of dehydration.
Offering the elephant water, they loaded her into one of the trucks and drove her to the nearby Elephant Sands Nature Reserve.
The baby was less than 3 weeks old when she was saved by truckers, so she still has a long way to go before she can return to the wild. Everybody is very confident, however, because the volunteers at Elephant Sands have such a wealth of experience working with orphaned elephants, and the determination and compassion they show for these adorable animals is encouraging.
Elephant cubs are known to be very fragile. Even if she is treated very well and at first seems to have recovered, it can be a long way before you can claim she is fully recovered.»
