Happy story of three friendly shelter cats who were all taken into one family
Little Violet was only a couple of weeks old when she was found on the street with a damaged front leg and sore eyes. She came into the hands of the animal advocacy group Purrfect Match, Inc. of Sarasota, Florida, and they found out that Violet had severe nerve damage on her injured leg and it was the result of a predator attack.
In addition, Violet had such a severe eye infection that they considered removing one eye, as well as a severe respiratory infection.
The eyes were eventually treated, but after trying unsuccessfully to treat Violet’s paw, the decision was made to amputate it. The kitty didn’t take the surgery very well, and on top of that she needed more than just treatment. Sitting in a cage at the clinic, she meowed loudly in pain and loneliness. That’s where volunteer Nadijah heard her.
«I went to see who was crying so loudly and saw little Violet, barely standing on three legs. I took her in my arms and she immediately snuggled up to me and purred. That same day she came with me to my house.
Violet was slowly getting used to life on three paws. According to Nadijah, the kitty was walking around the apartment and would often fall down, get back up again, take a couple of steps and fall down again. And she still needed to treatment for her eye and infection.
It wasn’t until three weeks later that Violet was cured and her main problem remained getting used to life on three paws.
«I had never met such a calm, friendly and affectionate kitten, It was like she was genuinely happy that we saved her and gave her a second chance.»
And then Violet was introduced to her peer, kitten Logan. Logan is limping because his paw didn’t heal properly after a fracture and won’t bend at the elbow.
«Violet instantly fell in love with Logan and took him under her care. It was as if she opened up after meeting him, became more active, more playful, more bold and curious.»
Violet and Logan don’t just play together, they lie next to each other and cuddle. For cats, this is the ultimate in trust for each other.
«And a couple more weeks later, we decided to find an owner for them who would take two of them at once, because they couldn’t be separated anymore.»
But while such an owner was being sought for Logan and Violet, they were joined by another shelter rescued cat named Dexter. The black and white Dexter was also young, but older than Violet and Logan, and despite the age difference, the three became inseparable friends.
It would seem that finding one owner for three cats at once was no easy task at all. But Violet and the others were lucky. When the family, who had come to take in Logan (who was given the new nickname Fry) and Violet, learned that their friend was also Dester, they decided to take him, too.
All three now live in a private home in Sarasota and enjoy a serene life.
