Dog Rests Immediately in Family’s Arms After 5 Year’s of Searching
A dog spent five years trying to return, and she finally did it.
The canine director at Evanston Animal Shelter, Tanya Ohanian, got a call dog found close to Cook County Illinois. She immediately assumed that it was just another stray doggy.
Little did she know that the puppy had wasted the past five years trying to find her way back.
From scanning, the data on the doggie’s microchip shelter’s staff assumed it was a dead end.
A group named Microchip Hunters came to help, and soon enough, more details were found about the poppy’s past. The new discoveries about the puppy’s past revealed that she was not stray and nameless after all. In fact, her name is Dottie, and her family has been searching for her for the past five years.
Right after getting the info, the canine director got on the phone with Dottie’s family to tell them the happy news.
Dottie’s dad George Loving had spent so many days without his little puppy that he could not believe his ears.
«I cried many nights about it,» Loving told The Dodo.
Now, shockingly, she was back in his arms.
«We were all very, very happy,» Ohanian said.
After spending five years apart from each other, Loving’s family was afraid that the dog might not be able to recognize them. But it was quickly evident that she was fully aware of their identities.
The scene of the reunion was so heartbreaking that even the workers of the shelter couldn’t help the tears running from their eyes when they saw how the long-lost friend calmed down in the arms of her family.
Here is the video of the reunion
«It was emotional for all of us,» Ohanian said. «I think we were all in tears.»
Nobody can tell for sure all the adventures and miseries that Dottie has overcome during her journey. Her family will never uncover that mystery as well, but for now, they are simply enjoying their reunion.
