Dog found guarding his owner’s son when he went missing
Officers from the Houston Police Department, USA, received a call on April 2, about a young boy wandering along train tracks with a dog by his side.
“Witnesses told me the dog was with the little boy when they found him” said Sgt. Salas, Pollice Officer from the department. He later realized the boy could have a medical condition, which was further proven to be a Down syndrome.
“ As I walked away with the boy, the dog followed,” Sgt. Salas wrote on Twitter. “This dog was his protector and his angel.”
The dog would not take his eyes off the child as the Officer approached them, and the feeling was as if the dog knew that the child wasn’t supposed to be wandering off and he ended up following him
Alejandro, this was the name of the dog, remained calm and vigilant, even when the officers arrived to help them.
Alejandro followed the Officer without barking to the car and when they both sat in, he jumped inside the drivers seat.
It was further revealed that missing boy’s name was Jose. The boy’s mom, Jasmine Martinez confessed that she was having a nap with her 5-year-old son, and she realized Jose had wandered off when she woke up. And this is when she realized he went missing and called the police immediately.
Jose suffered no injuries, only a few minor scrapes were on his legs. The dog has obviously done the guarding job perfectly.
“Alejandro has always been a very protective dog since we got him, as a baby. I was not surprised when they said he was walking with Jose the entire time,” Jose’s sister, Samantha Muñoz, said in her interview The Police Officer said he was touched by the level of loyalty Alejandro had towards this little boy and that he had been guarding the boy when they were walking on railroad tracks as commonly their tracks are very busy.
“Thank you God for looking over this child,” he wrote in his Twitter account. And obviously this is true also for Alejandro — a dog, who guarded Jose until he reached home safely.
