A burly, plump cat named Fred does nothing but rest while living in a veterinary clinic for aninals in Louisiana. Because of him a little confusion began among hospital visitors, because it’s impossible not to notice the fat baby, but his fatness can mislead…

This is Fat Fred, an unusually well-fed cat who spends his days at the Furry Friends Animal Hospital in Louisiana.

Fred was taken from the local animal shelter by vet Marcia Riedel, and at the time he weighed around 29 lbs. However, Riedel discovered that the cat’s character was much bigger than his waistline.

Very soon Marcia found out that the animal liked living in the clinic and greeting all the visitors. He didn’t get as much attention at home.

The cat’s biggest trick, perhaps, was convincing people that he wasn’t just eating for himself.

The situation is complicated by the fact that Fat Fred likes to sit by the window and look outside. His round figure makes passersby uneasy.

«90% of people who see him think he’s pregnant,» Riedel says.

No. He’s just fat.»

To clear the air about Fat Fred, Riedel decided to hang a sign on the window where he usually rests:

The secret is out, and the cat doesn’t know it.

Fortunately, thanks to the help of the owner, Fred has begun to lose weight. At his last weigh-in, he weighed 25 pounds.

One thing Fred is missing, however, is pregnancy.

And now the whole world knows about it.

Meanwhile, alarmed by the Internet popularity of yet another fat cat, veterinarians remind you not to overfeed your pets! Fat cats look funny, but the extra weight leads to heart and internal diseases, shortens life expectancy. Food not causing obesity should contain a lot of protein and fiber, but little fat.
