Baby elephant in an apartment in Odesaa — you have never seen anything like it!
As a rule, people keep different cats and dogs as pets, of course, there are exotic lovers who grow different lizards and snakes. Here is a fantastic story about how a baby elephant named Fantik visited an Odessa apartment.
Sometime in 1980, two elephants were caught in India. They were sent to the Prague Zoo, and from there they were bought by the Zoo-Vet Association of the Soviet Union for the Odessa Zoo. On May 13, 1982, a train with new residents of the zoo arrived at the site. The babies were named Tarun and Wendy, and thanks to good care, the baby elephants developed well.
10 years after the animals arrived at the Odessa Zoo, on August 29, 1992, the couple had their first child. Officially, the baby was named Fantik. The birth of the elephant was very difficult and protracted, and when the baby was born, the mother disliked him and even wanted to get rid of him. Therefore, zoo employees were constantly on duty near them so that nothing bad would happen. People made every attempt to reunite mother and son, but in vain.
Then it became clear that Fantik would have to be fed artificially. He was taken from the elephant house and transferred to a room on the territory of the zoo, adjacent to the apartment of Lyudmila Popova, head of the animal sections, who became his “foster mother”. And when Fantik grew up, the woman transported him to Australia.
