Sometimes unusual design solutions turn the site into a place of real attraction. This happened with the house of Vladimir Sysa.

He acquired a land a long time ago, but it took him 20 years to create his house. The fact is that a simple electrician did not want to engage in conventional construction. To save money and stand out among his neighbors, he began to build his own house from glass bottles.

This technology has existed since 1902 and is widely used in the United States of America. Sysa decided to collect only bottles of «Soviet champagne». Now his house is pleasantly shimmering with green glass.

At the design phase, the man was supported only by his wife, Lyudmila Sysa. Vladimir says: “I figure everything out and develop the technology by myself. As a result, a pile of almost two hundred sketches of the project is gathered in my apartment. When I showed them to my guys in the workshop, they laughed, they sa, it’s better to build from bricks and stop showing off.”

But his neighbors gradually became involved in the matter and considered Vladimir’s project to be a peculiar highlight of those places. They knew what kind of bottles the man needed, so they began to take their glass trash to his yard.

There were other ways to search: Sysa collected bottles in parks, and also negotiated about cooperation with a household waste collection and sorting points. The fact is that bottles with a volume of 800ml were not accepted for processing, and still no one needed them. In total, 8,000 bottles of champagne were collected.

According to the man, he decided on the material long before he received land of five acres in Zaporozhye. He kept the bottles at home, which frightened his wife for a long time. But over time, she realized the value of her husband’s idea: she also wanted to pass on the unusual heritage to her children.

Lyudmila Sysa says: “I supported my husband: I washed all the bottles together with my granddaughter and daughter-in-law. And when it was necessary, I carried buckets of cement to the second floor. My husband did not allow me to do my main work, but I did all the auxiliary work.

The woman participated in the design of all the unusual elements of the house: it has a hand-made elevator to the second floor, a sauna, an outdoor pool.

The Sysa family often spends time in the unusual house. He was completely saturated with a family atmosphere. And Vladimir continues to be proud of his unusual home, which is now known throughout Ukraine. Yes, and all over the world. It was through the efforts of Sysa that this building technology was adapted in Eastern Europe.

Some time ago, the man was offered to sell the house and the land. He was offered one hundred thousand hryvnias for the building and all adjacent buildings. But Vladimir Sysa refused. The creative family nest is much more important for him and his loved ones  than  money.
