A young family had no money for an apartment. They bought an abandoned house and now live like in a fairy tale!

Cities have become so noisy and dusty that more and more families are dreaming of replacing their apartments with a country house. But the protagonists of today’s story did not have to choose. A young Hungarian couple with a baby daughter in their arms did not even have enough savings for a modest country house in the suburbs. But they didn’t give up, they stubbornly pursued their dream and today they live like in a fairy tale.

The family had very little money. But by happy coincidence, they were able to buy a dilapidated house very inexpensively. Of course, the young family wanted to live in comfort and coziness. Then the guys decided to take matters into their own hands, literally.

The couple was determined to restore the house and do it themselves. First the family made a clear plan for the future work, and then set about implementing it. Since they didn’t have a lot of money, they had to do everything gradually. But with each step their house was getting better, and that allowed them to keep their enthusiasm and push on to the goal.

The first thing the guys decided to do was to add more space to their house. The old roof was in need of major repairs anyway, so it was decided to raise its level at the same time, thereby creating room for the second floor. Also added space is a simple but very practical summer terrace — under it you can easily hide from the rain or the summer heat. With it, the house became more comfortable.

After the modification of the roof the house got a full second floor, which is very important in such a small house. Such an improvement allowed to expand the living space up to 40 square meters.

Of course, increasing the size of the house was a very difficult task, both in terms of paperwork and financially. The couple is very proud that they succeeded, because they did almost all the work themselves, without the help of professionals. This story is a living embodiment of the phrase «put your heart into your home.

The couple decided that the final look of the house would be as authentic as possible. They did not want to do modern fancy renovations.

The young people repaired all the dilapidated furniture they had inherited from the house. But they especially wanted to keep the clay-and-brick stove, which was made according to ancient techniques.

Originally, this house was meant to serve as a country cottage for weekends and vacations. But so much thought, time and money was put into it that the couple decided to move in for good. Now the family with two children lives in the house of their dreams, which they built by their own.

Soon after the move, the young people, who had always lived in the city, fully embraced rural life and even started a small household. Thanks to this, the couple and their children always have natural homemade food on the table. When the couple started this large-scale renovation, they could never have imagined how drastically it would change their lives.

Today the young family is happy. They compare their life in the cottage to a fairy tale. And they feel just fine in their cozy, warm and unique house.
