A woman turned an abandoned public toilet into a luxury apartment
Laura Clark is an architect living in England. Laura graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2005 and then moved to London to work. One day, while walking around the city, the woman accidentally stumbled upon an old and abandoned public toilet. Of course, not everyone is impressed by a room of this format, but ideas and options began to appear in Laura’s head, what can be done from all this.
Today we’re going to tell you about a very determined girl who did just unbelievable things and believed in her cause, while others thought she was crazy.
She bought the premises. Its main feature was that it was built back in 1929, but ceased to function in 1980.
No one had entered the place in 30 years, and it was obvious to the naked eye: trash, ruins, and cracking walls everywhere.
At first Laura wanted to turn the place into some kind of small movie theater or bar, but even in three years she couldn’t get permission to do so. She decided to turn the unsightly space into an apartment. Her dream apartment.
She did most of the work herself: she demolished the walls, built new ones, installed electrical wiring, painted the walls, and so on.
She bought the apartment in 2011, worked on it for five long years and in 2016 her dream came true.
And this is the kitchen.
Can you believe there used to be a public restroom? This is the living room!
The bedroom is nice, I can’t argue with that.
The bathroom.
The entrance to Laura’s new apartment looks pretty good. Tidy, modern, and in keeping with the surrounding architecture. You wouldn’t know it was a door that led to someone else’s apartment.
There is no need to say anything, the girl really did a good job, her creation, of course, will not suit everyone’s taste, but for her it is a dream house!
