A touching reunion five years later: a she-wolf remembers her savior

This touching story we are about to tell you happened in the 1940s, in Alaska. One ordinary man came there to look for gold. He was hiking on Kupriyanov’s island where he noticed a silhouette of a huge wolf. The man got so overwhelmed by fear that he could not move. But then, he noticed that the animal’s paw was in a trap, which was left by a man who had already passed away, so there was no one to help the animal.  

Coming closer, the man realized that it was a she-wolf and she was nursing, so there must have been little pups somewhere. He was not sure what to do because he was scared of the wolf attack but, still, he just simply could not leave the animal and its children to die …  So, he decided to look for the pups.

Next to the trapped animal he saw footprints and decided to follow them. This is how he managed to find her four little hungry pups. Our hero did not think long and put poor souls in his bag. When he returned to the she-wolf, she immediately smelled the scent of children and howled. The man let the kids out, they ran to the mother and began drinking milk. Every time the man tried to free the animal, she began to growl. He did not give up and built a tent nearby. It took him several days to gain her trust — feeding her and playing with the puppies. Finally, she-wolf got free, but to the men`s surprise, she didn`t just run away! She came up to her savior and licked his hands. He went with his newfound friends to the forest, where they left the human to join a pack of wolves. But the story did not end there.   

Five years later, the man returned to the island and decided to visit that nostalgic place. When he was approaching the spot, he heard a howl and recognized the silhouette. She-wolf recognized the man too. She thankfully licked his hands, but this time she was not alone. There were four more adult wolves: the puppies our brave hero had once saved. They stood like that for a while, and then the she-wolf left. The man never saw her again, but every time he heard the howl, he recalled this incredible and heartwarming story.
