A stranger drives for 27 hours to help a dying woman meet her dog
In November 2019, one of Burnsville’s citizens learned the scary truth — she is terminally ill and has only five months to live.
The woman decided to take her beloved dog named Bailey and spend the time she had left with her best friend, who lived in Washington. But the dog, a pug mix, was not allowed to fly by airlines. Turned out, these breeds might have respiratory issues on planes.
The soul-sick owner had no choice but to give her pet companion to the vet clinic in the hope to find a solution. So, the clinic called the local rescue center (Spot’s Last Stop) to tell them about the situation.
Kind people, Ryan Chukuske and his wife, helped the organization to find homes for animals, but this time they decided that fostering Bailey was not enough.
To give peace to an ill owner and to reunite the woman with her lovely dog, Ryan volunteered to drive about 1,000 miles to Washington! The journey took about 27 hours, but Ryan believed it was all worth it since he helped a good cause. And we believe that love and kindness will save the world.
