A real celebration took place at a zoo for birth of rare Amur leopard cubs
It is always important for any zoo to have a little newborn babies especially when thay are rare animals. Such a bright day was at Niabi Zoo in Illinois, when two Amur Leopard cubs were born. They are extremely rare species. It is estimated that only 100 individuals are left in the wild and they are considered to be the critically endangered big cat in the world.
Even being in captivity Amur Leopard births are seriously rare. And the Niabi Zoo was chosen that year to associate with Amur Leopard Species Survival planning group. They got a female Iona to mate with their male leopard Jilin. So their first babies were born. The two cubs are being well due to their mother’s care and love. Their arrival was a perfect sign that all the efforts were worth to save this type of endangered cats. And the zoo staff is proud to support the project.
It is really delightful and appreciative for the zoos to participate in such a useful and improtant action to preserve the animals under the risk.
