A mother raccoon brings her kids to visit her beloved human
Roxy had just given birth to 4 babies and was insanely happy. The recently rescued raccoon dog really wanted to show them to her pet. She did.
Regular visits began in April 2021, when Brittany Seidel bought a new home. The previous owners of the house were known for taking care of the wildlife in the area.
«They told me that sometimes a raccoon would come to the door, but I didn’t fully believe them about a week after I moved in,» Seidel told The Dodo. «I was making dinner and she was literally knocking on the back door.»
Seidel doesn’t usually feed the local wildlife, but since the raccoons are used to her, she was forced to continue the ritual.
In early May, I noticed that Roxy seemed to be being fed, Seidel recalled. One morning she appeared on the back porch with her four cubs at her usual hour.
Last year, Seidel says, Roxy had a cub who still visits her. She sensed from the number of raccoon visits that new cubs were coming soon.
«She started coming for food several times a day instead of at night,» Seidel says.

Now Roxy, who lives in the woods behind her house, seems to see Seidel as a family member.
«I recently bought her a little pool so she can swim and play in it,» Seidel says. «She’s really a lot of fun to be with.»
Participating in Roxie’s life has even helped Seidel realize her own path.
«It really showed me how much I want to work with animals,» she says. «Now I’m getting my license to start a nonprofit wildlife rescue organization.»
The lives of Seidel and the people who enjoy watching Roxy and her children online have been greatly changed by their online presence.
