After hearing about Hurricane Delta approaching the shores of Cancun, Mexico, people were struggling to get through the period.

But what if you have 300 dogs and other animals in your family, and everyone equally wants to be rescued? Ricardo Pimentel gave the answer to that question because he couldn’t afford to lose everything he had.

He also knew that Delta was coming, so he determinedly made room for all the animals who had nowhere else to go.

Pimentel, the creator of this place for wanderers called Tierra de Animales, is much more than the average person who loves animals. This Cancun resident has dedicated his time to these amazing creatures who have no home of their own.

For almost 10 years he took care of various animals, including cows, pigs, donkeys, chickens and so on. There were more than 500 of them.

When news of a declared hurricane began to come in, Pimentel had to think hard. A Category 4 hurricane was not something that would stop in front of a dog shelter, something stronger was needed.

The time for this event was approaching, and Pimentel decided on something amazing. He let the puppies stay in his home.

Pimentel said they just wanted to share their home with all the dogs because they felt the shelters they relied on were still not strong enough for such weather-related disasters.

Obviously, it was a game of timing. However, getting such a large number of animals into one home was not easy. It took Pimentel and his team several hours to gather the animals and place them in the house.

There were also difficulties: some dogs had not yet learned to walk on a leash, so they had to be brought into the house another way. Some were just afraid, but in the end everything went well. They were all placed in the house.

The house was full of food, so there was enough for everyone in times of disaster. The house was expected to be a mess because there were many creatures gathered in one house, but that didn’t happen. Everyone was very cohesive.

Richard posted a video from the house on Facebook showing the peace that reigned there.

There were strong winds, and it wasn’t a harmless storm at all, but Pimentel is responsible for the safety of all Tierra del Fuego residents.

Despite the best efforts of the people who built the shelter, the hurricane did its job. Their structure was destroyed. Pimentel decided to use the donations to build stronger shelter where the animals could live carefree.
