A dog walked into a police station and went around to report him missing
Some days ago, the Odessa, Texas, Police Department had a surprise visitor who came through the door and jumped on the desk.
The dog was friendly and eager to alert authorities that someone had disappeared from their home.
He was alone.
Sgt. Rusty Martin was among the police officers who received him, and noted that the puppy didn’t seem too upset about his «lost dog» status. In fact, he just wanted to have a good time — and he succeeded.
«We were all happy to see him in the building,» Recalled Martin. «We had a tennis ball, and we tossed it around in the lobby a little bit. Everybody enjoyed it.»
Despite the joy of the dog’s unexpected company, those in charge did not let the issue she raised go unaddressed. However, this solution soon ran into problems.
Animal Control was called in to check for a microchip, even though the dog was wearing a collar with a missing identification tag.
But things changed even before they arrived.
The dog apparently returned to his family on his own after it was discovered that he had been «lost» for quite some time.
Writing about the event on Facebook, Martin stated that «he ran out as fast as he came in.» «The next day, the dog’s owner responded that it was his dog and that he came home. He lives about a mile from the railroad station.»
Martin was amazed. He might be right for the job.
