Huge rabbits rescued from cruel experiments
When the Center for Animal Rescue received a report that a number of rabbits were being kept locked in inappropriate conditions, the rescue team dispatched off to investigate the case along with police officers . When the team arrived, they were astounded by what they saw.
As many as 47 rabbits were kept in tiny, cramped, filthy cages in absolutely miserable conditions.
The rabbits were Flemish giants, weighing around 18 pounds — the size of a medium dog such as spaniel.
It was obvious that rabbits were not being cared for at all and their sizes were incompatible with petty cages.
“These poor rabbits were living in cramped and dirty conditions which would have been very unpleasant for them, especially in the heat,” Trevor Walker, an inspector from rescue center, said to journalists. “Luckily a vet found they are all in good condition with minor exceptions — one is now on medication for weepy eyes and a wound on the back of his neck.”
Other than mild issues, the rabbits luckily did not suffer any major injuries. They are now doing very well in the care of the rescue center, and once they’ve had some time to settle in and decompress, they’ll all be put up for adoption.
“We hope they will find loving homes,” Walker said. “They will make good companion pets as they have a nice temperament.”
These adorable giants are in need of love and are eager to find their forever homes.
