«The loneliest elephant in the world» fell in love for the first time in many years

As a result, he fell into depression and grieved for several years. Only recently, Kaavan’s life has changed and acquired new colors — for the first time after the death of his girlfriend, he became interested in a female.

The story of a 35-year-old elephant named Kaavan is a whole drama. He was born in Sri Lanka, but in 1985 he was transferred to Pakistan. Five years later, a female named Saheli was placed with Kaavan. The elephant fell in love with his girl-friend. However, in 2012 the female succumbed to blood poisoning and Kaavan fell into a deep depression.

The poor animal refused to eat, and could shake his head for hours in sadness. In addition, he was poorly fed and kept in nightmarish conditions isolated from other elephants. He was forced to perform in public and amuse people. Kaavan was called the loneliest elephant in the world.

Five years later, Kaavan’s life has changed. The singer Cher helped him. The singer organized an elephant rescue operation and transported him to the Cambodian Kulen Prum Tep nature reserve.

For the first time in many years, Kaavan began to communicate with other elephants. The elephant became interested in one of the female who lives in the enclosure next to him.

Now Kaavan lives in a separate enclosure — he needs to get used to the new environment. Relatives. Soon he will be moved to the enclosure where he will meet the female elephant he has recently liked.
