This man has the best job in the world
This man’s name is Gill, but everyone just calls him a cat person because he probably has the nicest job in the world of caring for and cuddling cats.
Gill Nanes is a veterinarian by profession and was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but has lived in New York City for a long time and just loves animals, especially felines. He has countless kittens and cats to his credit, whom he has treated, stroked and given them a piece of his heart’s warmth.
«I always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and living in New York City,» Gill says. «And so 17 years ago I came here, almost penniless but full of enthusiasm. My dream came true.»
Gill began working at a veterinary clinic as a veterinary assistant and simultaneously enrolled in veterinary college. By college graduation, he realized that his calling was exclusively cats, animals with which Gill had a special bond. Gill now runs two veterinary clinics in New York City.
Not only does Gill treat cats, but he also takes in those he particularly likes. He now has 14 cats and four dogs living in his home.
On his Instagram, Gill posts many photos from work as well as snapshots of his pets. He recently posted some photos with Kelly, a cat who suffered burns.
«Kelly was rescued in a fire and we treated him for burns. Then someone on our staff fell in love with him and decided to take him in. I was very happy that Kelly was now in a new home, but I was also a little sad because I became very attached to him during his treatment.»
After a busy day at work, there’s nothing better than lying down with soft, warm, purring kittens.
The cats living in Gill’s home weren’t just found on the streets, they were saved from being put to sleep. City shelters had deemed them unpromising in terms of finding them new families because most of them were terminally ill or crippled. Gill saved their lives by taking them in.
Gill spends a lot of time cuddling and interacting with the cats. He believes they need it just as much as they need care and medication.
