Everybody must give snuggles to this rescue cow every time they meet
Even the most energetic animals want to sleep from time to time, and the lucky ones doze off right on their friend’s shoulder. Chico is a cow notable for her energy.
In 2017, Chico came to the Tender Barn Animal Shelter after being rescued from a slaughterhouse. He’s been a barn favorite ever since.
«Chico is awesome!» Ellie Lacks, founder of Tender Barn said. «He’s a leader, leads the others, guards them and cuddles all of us freely. He’s very caring, knowledgeable and brave.»

According to Laks, when Chico first arrived, it was clear he was in charge of the herd. When Chico would go off into the grass and woods, the other cows would follow him. Laks knew that if she wanted to gain the trust of all the cows, she first had to gain Chico’s trust. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before Chico started eating from her hand and letting her pet and cuddle him.
According to Laks, Chico now lovingly cuddles me and others around his neck.
Chico is independent and loves to play in the snow in the winter. However, the huge cow turns into an even bigger swagger once the fun is over and Chico gets tired. This became evident when he passed out right on the shoulder of one of the volunteers.
Laks claims that when the cows on the farm gain our trust, they become very affectionate and physically close.
After they recover, according to Laks, «They learn to forgive, trust us, lay down and let us hug them. In return, they hug us, wrapping their arms around our necks or, as in this case, leaning their heads against us.»
Chico and his family, which also includes Gentle Barn cows Johnny Cash, Eddie, Houdini and Roo, can now be seen resting in the field.
Chico has plenty of room to run in his new home, but what happens if he gets tired? He has plenty of shoulders to lay his head on.
