Lovely dog shares his favorite fluffy yellow toy with his newborn brother every time he cries
Brutus is an adorable two-year-old bullmastiff who lives with his parents in Northern California.
Like any other dog, Brutus has eaten, torn up, and destroyed many different toys in his life, except for one, a fluffy yellow ball. It’s his favorite toy, and he’s not ready to part with it, so he treats it as gently as possible.
«We got Brut as a puppy, and he was our first child,» says Bonnie Michalek, the dog’s owner. Shortly after Brut was born, Bonnie became pregnant. The dog’s behavior changed dramatically.
«Apparently he realized what was going on with me before my belly even grew a lot. My husband was working the night shift, and Brutus stopped sleeping in his crate. Every night he would come in and try to climb on my bed.
If I chased him away, he would of course sleep next to me on the floor. At the time I was angry at him for this behavior. But now I understood — he became the master of the house and guarded me.»
When baby Cayden was born, the Michalek family had no hesitation about introducing Brutus to the baby right away or later. As soon as mom and baby arrived from the hospital, Brutus met them.
From day one, Brutus was aware of the responsibility that rested on his shoulders. He tried to stay close to Cayden, always leaving him in his sight.
The boy’s parents were amazed that when Cayden began to cry, Brutus immediately figured out how to calm him down. Without hesitation, he went into the other room and brought his biggest treasure for the baby, a fluffy yellow ball.
«My husband and I were incredibly touched when we saw what Brutus had done for Cayden. It looks like our son got the best big brother in the world,» Bonnie says.
