Jane has been doing this trip from Hexham to Inverness, Scotland every year since 1972 on her horse Diamond.

This year she set out on August 31 with Dinky, her Jack Russell with disabiilties.

She hopes to maintain this tradition for as long as possible, and she does it all despite her blindfold.

Her mother looked after her other ponies, but she didn’t really want to look after her stallion Halfinger, so she rode him to Somerset to a friend’s house, which is about 300 miles.

The route normally takes 7 weeks.

She eats oatmeal scones, cheese, and porridge, and she carries a phone with a battery that lasts 6 weeks.

While hiking, the amount of trash Jane encounters horrifies her.

«It’s horrible, especially the single used barbecues that are lying all over the place.» Cumbernauld is the trash capital of Great Britain. There are some really nice people there who let me put up tents, but some of them are so disgusting and shameful.»

The woman is not intended to give up her yearly trip.

«There’s always something fascinating going on, and it’s never boring.»
