A homeless man rushes inside a burning shelter to rescue all of the animals

53-year-old homeless Keith Walker was recognized as a hero for saving the lives of 10 cats and six dogs. When he saw flames rising from the W-Underdogs animal shelter in Atlanta, Georgia, he took chances to save innocent creatures. All the animals were saved and survived thanks to his bravery.

«I was nervous, I’m not going to lie,» Keith shared with CNN. “I was really frightened to go where there was so much smoke. But God put me there to rescue those animals.»

In the comments to the post people asked how they can help the homeless man — as a result a page was created on GoFundMe, where $36,000 of the planned $5,000 has already been raised. Now W-Underdogs staff are planning to negotiate with organizations that help homeless people so they can help Walker manage the money properly.

W-Underdogs also said that they have helped the man with work in the past and that they have fed (and will continue to feed) his dog — they know Walker well, because he often brought his pit bull, named Bravo, to the shelter.

According to the shelter owner Gracie Hamlin, even firefighters were hesitant to enter the burning building because they were waiting for animal control, CNN reported. Walker rushed inside and carried out all the animals.

«You can love anyone in the world if you love your dog,» Brave said. «My dog ​​is my best friend and I wouldn’t be here without him, so I knew I had to help all the other dogs.»

Gracie was overjoyed to know that all the animals at the shelter were safe and sound thanks to Keith’s bravery.
