Zach Hearn believed his family was copmlete, but Tang and Cream, his 2 dogs, had other opinions.

One day, the dogs bumped into a small animal crying for help and ran to his rescue.

The dogs were puzzled.

Zach didn’t know where the noise was coming from, but both dogs sniffed out a tiny kitten, about 3-4 weeks old, in the middle of the street.

The poor thing was dirty and emaciated. Hearn was anxious that his dogs might chase the kitten, but they knew what to do.

Hearn was astonished when both dogs started comforting the scared kitten. According to Hearn, «Tang started to sob and lay down next to her.» «Cream began to wash her and licking her.»

Hearn knew he couldn’t leave the kitten alone in the road, so he took her home, where he and his friend made a cozy place for the kitten to rest, gave her a bath and fed her. It was evident that the kitten had been alone for a while, but she quickly regained her strength.

The kitten was named Tou Jiang (jackpot).

The dogs were smitten with Tou Jiang as soon as they saw her. They never leave her and are always willing to give her anything she requires, whether it’s comfort, a snuggle, a tongue wash or a little playfulness.

When it comes to fostering a kitten, each dog has her own «fostering» technique.

Tang is more like a calm, relaxed mom. Tang just lies down when the kitten climbs on top of her and plays with her tail. If the kitten is about to do something, she intervenes.

Cream is completely different. She’s more up in the air and is usually around her, playing with her and licking her like her real mother would do.

«Fostering a kitten is not the same as fostering a puppy,» Zach explains. «The constant need to eat and go to the bathroom can be taxing, but it’s worth it.»
