And for one man, his beloved dog was there when he needed it most, on his deathbed. It’s a sad story, but one that ultimately shows this beautiful connection.
Veteran Marine John threatens to end his life. The man was admitted to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center under hospital care.

Unfortunately, this also meant that he had to separate from his beloved dog. Since he had no family, he left the dog for the welfare of the animals.

The man was asked about his last wish.
The choice was clear for him. he just wanted to see his dog again.

Animal welfare team members brought the dog to the hospice. John was deeply moved to see his old friend again.

«I’m so glad to see you.»
The dog reportedly fell silent during the ride but was moved as they approached the hospital.

As if he knew, he just started crying.

However, it is gratifying that they were able to make reunification possible, giving the veterinarian a little joy in his last moments.
«It was such a warming moment.» «They were so happy to see each other and to say goodbye. It was very important to them.»

He has returned to the animal shelter, where he is looking for a new home, the staff says they have an interested adopter.
But, of course, part of his heart will always be with John.
This is a beautiful, bittersweet story that shows that sometimes our pets are our best friends, even in our last hours.
