Dog who fell off shrimp boat found alive after swimming 6 miles to shore

When Monster fell off a shrimp boat, his owner thought he was gone forever — but several days later, a miracle happened: the tenacious dog made it home.

Keith «Kiwi» Soffes is a shrimping boat captain from San Leon, Texas. He loves his dog Monster, who never leaves him, follow him on his daily outings on the water.

But one recent trip turned into distress for him after the dog fell into the sea. Although it had been a calm day, she unexpectedly disappeared without a trace.

He sought everywhere for her, but he began to scare the worst. «I lost the one thing I truly loved,» Keith wrote.

He shared the story on the internet, continuing to hope that Monster would show up somewhere. He got a lot of support and prayers from people.

But 5 days after the dog was lost, he got fantastic news: Monster is alive… And has went through a few adventures.

As reported by FOX 26 Houston, Monster survived after swimming 5-6 miles to shore across Galveston Bay.

Monster was discovered a few days after reaching shore.

«I said: «Man, she couldn’t have swum like that,» he told FOX 26. «There’s no way that dog could have swum that long.»

After many days apart, they were happy to be reunited.

«I cried so hard I couldn’t even speak,» Keith said. «She gave me so many kisses.»

She acted like nothing had happened.

He’s making sure nothing like that happens again. He plans to equip the dog with a tracking device and a life vest on future boat trips.
