Missing 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome found with his faithful dog keeping him safe

Dogs are so caring, first of all when it refers to children. There have been a lot of examples when kids have been lost and then been found with their faithful dog by their.

So was the case not long ago when a missing 5-year-old boy was found unharmed thanks to his caring German Shepherd.

On April 2, Houston Police Department officers responded to a call about a boy wandering along the railroad tracks with just a dog by his side.

Sgt. Ricardo Salas of the department says he realized the five-year-old boy had Down’s syndrome and was around a half-mile from his home. He also realized that a German Shepherd named Alejandro was following him as his protector.

It seemed like the dog realized something was wrong, knew the child shouldn’t have left, and ended up going after him. He was very protective of the child and wouldn’t take his eyes off him.

The dog walked after them almost everywhere they went. It didn’t bark or get scared. And when Salas put the boy in the car, the dog jumped into the driver’s seat with him.

Shortly the officers received another call and learned that the child was a missing boy named Jose. Jasmine Martinez, the boy’s mom, said that she and her five-year-old son started napping. And when she woke up, she realized Jose was gone.

Fortunately, all turned out well: the child had no injuries other than minor scratches. The family is grateful, but not surprised, that their faithful dog stood up for Jose.

Police said that no charges would be filed against the family, and Jasmine is now installing security locks for the children to avoid something like this. Sgt. Salas says he was touched by the dog’s level of devotion to the boy,» and says it was very important that the dog kept an eye on him.
