Veterinarians helped a dog with overgrown fur who had been unable to move around

Looking at the pictures of Ellie Mae’s shih tzu on the vets’ table, it’s hard to know it was a dog — it was in such a state of neglect. Ellie’s owner had died, and no one knew she had a dog. Employees who came to clean the house found Ellie and took her to the local chapter of the Animal Welfare Society in a bag — the dog couldn’t even move around on its own. But thanks to the doctors’ efforts, not only did Ellie start walking, but she looked a lot better!

The vets were terrified of Ellie — it was the worst case in their practice.

There was so much hair that the vets were worried about the dog’s health.

The last time a patient in this condition had serious paw problems.

But Ellie was lucky — she only had 6.5-inch claws.

It took 3 workers an hour to trim off the excess.

It turned out that the 11-pound Ellie was carrying 9 pounds of fur!

But Ellie Mae’s rescue wasn’t limited to one haircut.

The vets treated an infection and teeth, removed the dog’s hernia, and found Ellie had arthritis and weakened muscles.

But within five hours of the haircut, she was up on her own paws.

Two weeks later, Ellie Mae is looking her best!

Ellie is moving and appreciates the opportunity to walk, sniff and explore everything around her.

So there is certainly a line of new owner candidates lined up for such a beauty!
