Cat found with serious burns after wildfire finally reunites with his family
On December 30, a forest fire passed through Boulder County, Colorado, ruining a lot of homes across 6,200 acres and urging people to leave. It was probably one of the most destructive fires in Colorado history.
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley took charge of one of the victims: an orange Tabby cat who had pulled through the fire but suffered rough burns.
The cat was discovered on January 4 and treated at a local vet clinic before being handed over to the humane society for extended care.
His face and paws were awfully burned, and the caring veterinary team started treating him, making sure his pain was managed well.
The burns began to heal. He made solid progress.
The vets believed they had found the cat’s family, but then the family realized he wasn’t theirs.
The Humane Society of Boulder County continued to look for the cat’s real family and shared the cat’s story on social media, hoping the cat would be identified.
Eventually, his owner was found.
It turned out that the cat was called Boots, and he didn’t go missing in the fire. The cat had been missing for about a year!
His guardian searched everywhere for her beloved pet to no avail. When she saw photos and his orange and white markings became more identifiable, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
While it’s sad that Boots was found burned, everything worked out for the best, as he finally found his family.
