Three-month-old giraffe calf gets a new lease on life after receiving custom braces to fix legs

Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world, standing tall and proud on their lofty, long legs. But when a giraffe was born with deformed legs, it was life-threatening. Fortunately, he got help from some kind of people, and now they feel good after receiving specialized foot braces. According to the press release of the zoo, the female cub was born with a strain on the carp, as a result of which her front legs were bent, making it difficult to walk.

If the giraffe was not cured, it would be in a lot of pain and probably would not be able to survive. Fortunately, veterinarians worked with an orthotist to solve the problem and give this baby a chance.

The vision worked, and soon the baby was on the road to recovery thanks to his new friends and special braces.
«I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment,» said Ara, an orthotist at Hanger Clinic. «I’ve never worked with wildlife before, it’s one of those things that can be done once in a lifetime, and you just have to enjoy the moment.»

Because the leg braces were so supportive, the baby was able to develop normally.
According to the press, the giraffe has taken such steps that now the leg braces have been removed and he does not need any more medicine. «As his bond with the herd grows, he will be able to learn the behaviors and skills that are necessary for the development of a young giraffe.»

Genius has come a long way since being born with life-threatening abnormalities.

At first, no one was sure he would be able to survive, and seeing how he overcame and now stands on his own two feet makes veterinarians very proud.
