Was there a moment when Picasso rushed to help a girl who had a panic attack and was in the right place at the right time? Or was it pure fate?
A Good Samaritan discovered a Plott Hound mix running down a street. He picked up the dog and took it to the Animal Association.

The staff initially named the dog Picasso after the artist. But due to a typo in his name, the computer system was missing one «s» so he became Picasso. He had no collar, no microchip, and no one claimed him.

Picasso spent 19 days in an orphanage waiting for someone to adopt him.
Everyone noted his kind and well-mannered character. It was this that earned him a spot on the walk with the other dogs in need of a home at the local holiday parade.
Picasso was accompanied at the event by asylum volunteer Kim. «When I first met him, he immediately hugged me,» he said. «She likes to hug. he was so sweet.

As Vigno and Picasso walked past hundreds of parades in the streets, he was suddenly struck by only one. «We were walking halfway,» Vigno said. A girl was sitting on the side of the road. He seemed to be upset. The dog brought me closer to him. He shook her head and began to support her physically.
The girl was 16-year-old, was battling a serious heart problem that affects her blood flow and can lead to fainting. On the night of the parade, he started having a panic attacks. His mother was trying to help Ellis when Picasso ran to her.
«She was able to put her body under him and push him back. Then he began to come to his senses. «I could only imagine that Abby would have fallen to the ground if that dog had not been there.»

She remembers exactly when Picasso found her. “I felt his nose against mine,” she said. “I started petting him. I felt safe. My mother asked his name.»
Smoot was given the name of a dog, but at that time her goal was to bring her daughter home. They left, and Vigno and Picasso returned to the parade. But Smoot couldn’t get the dog out of her mind. Ellis went to the orphanage the next day, and Picasso no doubt remembered her.
Picasso ran right up to her. “He hugged me. I was very excited,” Ellis said.

At this point, Smoot realized that Picasso was walking home with them. “Abby has been asking for a dog for over a year now,” Smoot said. “I kept praying, ‘God, just send me a sign that Abby is ready to get a dog. Some have called it a wink at God. So it was. God winked at us and answered our prayers.”

And on the 20th day of their stay at the orphanage, Ellis and her family adopted Picasso.
He managed to help Picasso get a new home, but apparently, he chose his family. «It was amazing. I also have anxiety and I know what it’s like to have an anxiety attack. I think it’s great that everyone is talking about it,» she said.

Smoot doesn’t think they met Picasso just by chance. Ellis doesn’t like crowds. But that night she insisted on going to the parade.
“It was meant to be,” Smoot said.

Ellis is thrilled to finally have a dog that not only loves her but knows exactly when she needs help.
«I’m just really glad he chose me,» she said.
