While we’re used to seeing people usually bond with puppies, cats, or farm animals, this extraordinarily strange friendship between a diver and a fish baffles everyone. And, strangely enough, these two unusual pals have shared this special bond for more than 25 years.

It all started many years ago when the Japanese diver Hiroyuki was appointed to head the Tories, the sacred sanctuary of the Shinto religion. And as he continued to do so for so many years, a man eventually got to know even the sea creatures that once lived there. In particular, a diving fish with whom he has such a wonderful friendship.

As incredible as human-fish friendships may sound, they relate very well to each other, apparently, science even has an explanation for it. It turns out that fish can recognize human faces.

«Scientists presented the fish with two images of human faces, taught them to choose one by spitting on that image with their jets,» said Dr. Kate. The researchers decided to make things a little more complicated. They took photos, turned them white and white, and straightened the scalp. You might think that’s going to throw the fish on a loop. But no, they were able to get a familiar face with 86% accuracy.
