Missing dog found At Battle Creek Airport reunited with owner after missing two weeks

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A little black dog was home safe after spending weeks in the wild.

Gotham is a 6-year-old Pomeranian, escaped her collar and ran away after being scared by another dog on March 2, 2021, at Pet Supplies Plus, 1791 W. Columbia Ave., in Battle Creek.

Tiffany and Sean Brumbaugh explored the area for 4 hours. Heartbroken, they didn’t manage to find her. Tiffany came back every single day, never losing hope.

Team Seether is a volunteer Facebook group is dedicated to reunited lost pets with their families in Battle Creek. It contacted the owners the day after the dog got lost.

“It was nice to have kind people willing to lend us a helping hand find her,” Tiffany said.

Someone saw Gotham late one night, but they couldn’t catch her. Her owners even offered a $1,000 reward.

2 weeks later, Gotham was spotted at Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field

Animals must be removed from the airfield because they are a potential hazard to airplanes taking off and landing.

Once Jonathan Young, one of the airport’s operations maintenance electrician specialists, and his coworker, Jim Tobias, saw the dog they went into action to catch the dog.

They took the dog to an animal shelter where the dog was recognized by someone.

Young immediately picked up the phone to call the number mentioned on the wanted poster.

“Once he described her and where she was found, I was overjoyed,” Tiffany said.

“When I hug her, she ceased to shiver,” Tiffany said. “When we got home, she was just whining. She was so excited.”

The family reunited by two men who said they were just doing their job.

“I’m sure she went through a lot to stay alive,” Young said. “But she had to be loved to stay alive.”

“They’re such amazing people, and we can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for us,” Tiffany said. “We have three kids, and she’s the center of their world. Having her back means a lot.”
