16 years ago, Thailand was struck by the biggest tsunami, there was a terrible situation. It was a miracle for the 8-year-old girl Amber to be rescued at that time by someone unexpected.
The Ouren family was having a rest for the Christmas holidays in a coastal hotel in Phuket. There was a little elephant Ning Nong who was entertaining all the visitors there. And Amber adored him, she liked to embrace him and to sit on his back. Already in the morning of December 26 Amber and her mother went to the beach. The girl immediately approached her friend, but the animal acted strangely.
All of a sudden, an awful thing occured. People didn’t realize what was going on. After a few minutes the water began to rise, there were huge waves that knocked people down. At that moment, Amber was on the back of an elephant, she literally held on to him, and he did not try to throw her off, he slowly started to walk to the hotel. The brave savior stood against a high wall and waited for Amber to ascend to it to be protected. A few moments later the her mom approached, and they rushed to the hotel. Fortunately, everything ended well.
Ouren’s family was unharmed and returned their home and never had any news from Ning Nong the baby elephant.
After some time, the Thai media got interested in this stroy. They wanted to search for the girl’s kind rescuer. And it was easy, because in Thailand all elephants have a passport. It turned out that Ning Nong was alive. Now he is named in different way- Bai-Tong. When the animal grew up, his owner couldn’t keep him and sold him. Bai Tong now lives in an elephant camp. The generous beast is surrounded by warmth and affection, he is a real «hero».
